How to Wash and Care for Bartending Pants
Share
Bartending pants take a beating: spilled drinks, citrus, grease, and long hours of reaching and crouching. A few simple habits help them look sharp and last longer. Always follow the care label on your own pair, since fabrics differ.
1. Read the care label first
The label tells you the safe wash temperature, whether to tumble dry, and what to avoid. Our Men's Stretch Bartending Pants are machine washable, but check the tag on any pair before you wash.
2. Wash soon after a shift
Sugar, citrus, and alcohol set into fabric the longer they sit. If you can, wash your uniform after each shift or two, and rinse bad spills as soon as you can.
3. Turn them inside out and use a gentle cycle
Turning pants inside out protects the outside of the fabric from rubbing. A gentle or normal cycle in cool or warm water is usually enough, with a mild detergent.
4. Go easy on bleach and fabric softener
Bleach can fade dark colors, and fabric softener can coat stretch and quick-dry fabrics so they feel less breathable. If you are unsure, leave them out.
5. Dry with care
Hanging to dry is gentlest on stretch fabric. If you use a dryer, choose low heat and take the pants out while they are still slightly damp to avoid wrinkles and shrinking.
6. Treat stains before washing
- Wine and cocktails: blot, then rinse with cold water before washing.
- Grease: work a little dish soap into the spot, wait a few minutes, then wash.
- Citrus and sugar: rinse in cool water as soon as possible.
Test any stain treatment on a hidden spot first.
7. Keep a spare pair
Rotating two pairs gives each one time to rest and ensures you always have a clean pair ready for your next shift. See our bartender uniform checklist for what else to keep ready.
